Fund Usage:

Udhavum Ullangal is a not for profit NGO working with the spectrum of Cancer care and prevention in Tamil Nadu. The organization currently has set up a mobile
cancer screening unit in Tirunelveli which routinely screens patients through a series of community level camps and interventions. The set up screens about 6000 patients a year. However, due to the rampant increase in incidence of cancer cases in Tirunelveli, it has become necessary to start screening the population in order to catch the disease early at a rigorous pace. The organization proposes to set up a cancer screening centre in Alangulam with a view to identify cancer patients early and refer them for subsequent treatment. It is hoped to not only bring about a reduction in the number of cancer relateddeaths in the area but also to facilitate a holistic community level change process which will improve their overall status.

It is hoped that this project will help us identify and refer cancer patients early. It will also help in contributing to a reduction in the number of preventable deaths and morbidities due to cancer. This district will be a model for follow up, tracking and treatment of cancers, so that the target population gets sensitized and report at the health facilities in time to benefit from the intervention.
