ABOUT THE PROJECT
Indian Association for the Blind, in association with United Way of Chennai, have stepped forward to launch their new venture named Sadhana Finishing School. The vision of the project is to groom the employability skills of the visually impaired students and enrich their courage to attempt competitive exams. The appraised duration of the course is 2 months. Indian Association for the Blind regards this venture as a boon to these students as they gain the opportunity to use computers, cultivate communication skills and personality development in addition to the preparation sessions meant for competitive exams. Thanks to United Way of Chennai, it has been feasible for the school to function with a budget of Rs. 12,36,000/- which will include installation of necessary infrastructure (10 computers, salary for 2 trainers, study materials and food charges) to conduct qualitative sessions and guarantee the attainment of desired outputs. As an initial step, an amount of Rs. 6,00,000/- has been received by Indian Association for the Blind on 25th February 2013 to initiate the tasks and promote the opportunity to the focus groups.
