In August 2018, Kerala witnessed the worst flood the state had seen in a century. Torrential rains, landslides, and overflowing rivers claimed many lives, destroyed infrastructure and brought life to a stand-still. United Way chapters across India are coming together to actively channelize resources to those in need.
In the last year, we have specifically defined needs on Early Recovery, Transient Shelter Support, Camp Coordination & Camp Management, Rehabilitation, and Recovery, etc. from our on-ground partners.
Here’s a snapshot of the impact we’ve been able to create with the funds we raised last year
- 21 Projects
- 7 Districts
- 30,000+ beneficiaries
Unfortunately, it’s happening again.
The death toll is climbing up to 88 and the state is on RED ALERT. Wayanad, Kozhikode, Idukki, and Malappuram among many other districts are suffering especially when they were just slowly getting back on their feet.
UWC is working with the SEEDS team in the Wayanad district and the District Administration in rescue operations to respond to the immediate needs of the displaced and distressed families.
There’s so much more to be done and we can’t do it without your help!
Your generous contribution can help stabilize the lives that have been torn down by this catastrophe.
Every little bit can make a big difference!
