INDIA’S SECOND WORST CYCLONE IN 20 YEARS

Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm ‘Fani’ ravaged the states of Odisha, West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh from 3rd to 4th May. With wind speeds reaching up to 205 kmph, heavy rains and flying debris have battered the coastal belt of Eastern India. Cyclone Fani is be the worst India has seen in the last two decades, second only to the Odisha super-cyclone of 1999. 36+ districts have been affected across the three states, with 21 districts being impacted only in Odisha. A total of 137 million people were in the path of the cyclone and are expected to be
affected in varying degrees.

United Way chapters from across India are committed to help the people of Odisha recuperate from their losses and get back to their normal lives.

Your generous contribution can help stabilize the lives that have been torn down by this catastrophe.
